Purpose: The Building and Projects Committee (B&PC) shall be responsible for all elements of design and construction of the projects approved for action by the Board. The B&PC shall consult with the Site Evaluation Committee regarding the suitability of proposed building sites.
Structure: A Board Member who is also a member of the Executive Committee shall chair the B&PC. The committee shall consist of the committee chair and 5-10 volunteers.

| Key Tasks/Responsibilities |
- Design: Resolve all issues regarding design of all projects working with architects, engineers, and consultants as required. Establish and update standardized housing unit designs and standards.
- Building Permits: Obtain required permits and licenses.
- Jobsite Supervision: Interview and select jobsite supervisors and personnel from prospects identified by the covenant Church and Volunteer Committee. Manage volunteer efforts on each jobsite.
- Partner Family Participation: Work with partner family liaison to maximize partner family participation in materials selection and performance of "sweat equity" hours.
- Safety: Establish safe working standards, ensure jobsites are equipped with needed safety equipment and materials.
- Quality: Establish and ensure that standards of quality are met for all projects.
- Budget: Prepare estimates of anticipated cost for each project in accordance with Board policies. Monitor and report cost status on all active projects. Be responsible for meeting project budgets. Maintain records of cost in a standard format to assist in preparation of future estimates. Provide final cost information to Financial Committee to facilitate preparation of mortgage documents
- Certificate of Occupancy: Obtain C of O from municipality at completion of construction
- Donated Materials: Evaluate materials offered for donation, arrange transport to the warehouse and jobsite as needed. Solicit donations for each project. Ensure HfHI national donated materials programs are fully utilized as appropriate.
- Project Manager: Contract with, monitor the performance of, and manage the Project Manager position.
- Schedule: Establish and periodically update schedule of work activities for each project and provide to the Board and all Committees. Provide information regarding volunteer needs and progress updates to Volunteer Coordinators and Website Control
- Tools and Equipment: Inventory and maintain a list of all tools and equipment. Provide all jobsites with required tools, ladders, and equipment. Ensure these are in good working order at the start of each project. Assist site supervisors with repairs as needed.
- Warehouse and Work Trailers: Manage warehouse, work trailers, and their contents. Dispose of unused materials and equipment.
