The Downeasters Chorus Benefit Concert for Habitat for Humanity York County
Kennebunk—the Downeasters Chorus is supporting Habitat for Humanity York County with a Benefit Concert on December 8th at 7:00 pm at the Wells High School Auditorium. “Habitat for Humanity of York County is delighted with the show of support by the Downeasters Chorus for our mission of eliminating substandard housing for families in our communities”, said Amy Nucci, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of York County. “The funds received from the Downeasters Chorus Benefit Concert will help to complete the Wells Build now in progress as well as weatherize homes for low-income families throughout York County.” The Downeasters are an award-winning men's a cappella barbershop chorus that performs regularly in southern Maine. In October, the 30-voice chorus qualified for the third time in the last nine years to represent the Barbershop Harmony Society's Northeast District in the Society's 2018 International Chorus and Quartet Championships in Orlando Florida. The annual chorus competition includes 30 choruses winnowed from over 700 in the United States and many more worldwide. The Championships typically draw an audience of 8-10,000. Several award-winning Downeasters quartets will also be performing in the Wells Habitat for Humanity holiday concert, including Exchange Street, the winning quartet in last month's Northeast District quartet championship. The District comprises 52 Barbershop Society chapters in New England and the Canadian Maritime Provinces. The Downeasters are proud to support Habitat for Humanity with an annual benefit concert. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased at the door, online at, or at the Habitat ReStore, 4 Industrial Drive, Kennebunk. The Wells High School Auditorium is located at 20 Sanford Road, Wells. Habitat has many opportunities to volunteer on the Quarry Road Build, at the ReStore, assisting with weatherizations, serving on committees, or in the office. Anyone interested in participating or donating to Habitat is encouraged to call the Habitat office at 207-985-4850 or visit the website at
