Sarah's Christmas Miracle:

Give the gift of home this holiday season. Help create affordable housing in York County

"The community builds homes

here in York County"

A board member spoke these words recently, and the simple truth of them is striking. Often, folks think Habitat’s local work is substantially funded by Habitat for Humanity International. In fact, we can only do the work we do because of the generous support of our neighbors, volunteers, local businesses, and community foundations.

In short, because of you. Thank you. Because of you, Derek and Alicia were able to move into their new home in Cape Porpoise just in time for the start of the school year. And while a Habitat home often represents bigger dreams and accomplishments for a family, the stability that comes from knowing the school bus will always know where stop can be critical for the children of our homeowners. Derek and Alicia's two sons know that now because of you.

Because of you, Habitat has brought stability to the lives of so many. Because of you, 17 seniors will receive weatherization and aging in place services to stay warmer and safer in their homes, at no cost to them. Because of you, in 2023 we will finish our second Cape Porpoise home and break ground on two new projects in Sanford. We will also continue to provide critical weatherization and aging in place services to 25 low-income homeowners. Your support will make a life-changing difference to individuals and families in need here in York County.

We can’t do it without your help. Thank you for your support of Habitat for Humanity York County.

"Habitat for Humanity has truly made the
impossible a reality for our family."

Through this organization and collaboration with many volunteers we settled into a safe and healthy home which provides a favorable environment to support the development of our children and family as a whole. We are eternally grateful for all who have helped make this home a reality for us. When we first found out about habitat we had already moved over a handful of times in under 10 years and were also struggling to find a place to settle. Due to specific health requirements and the economic climate, every option was either just out of reach or could not provide the setting we required.

We were weary to pursue the Habitat opportunity as our luck had seemingly run out. The staff at Habitat was so understanding, caring, and supportive. From the moment of contact we were captivated. They encouraged and assisted us through the process every step of the way and now that we are settled, it’s hard to fathom how we got here. It all seems so natural now. Through the generosity of others we are truly able to settle and have the security and stability that our kids need to flourish. The livelihood of our family has already increased exponentially from this experience and since moving in. This home has meant the world to us and we thank everyone who has donated, volunteered, or had any part of making this possible for us, past families, and especially families in the future.
