Sarah's Christmas Miracle:

The feeling of standing in this house brings an unexplainable sense of awe; this is mine. I did this. I did this for them. Seeing the boys start to acclimate to our home and release the anxiety and tension I didn’t even recognize they were carrying brings me to tears. They can play and be loud and not have to fear for their safety for just being kids. Christmas is going to be magical simply because of this. We are safe.

One year ago, I was clinging to the shards of our shattered former life. I was suddenly a disabled single mother trying to raise 5 special boys. How do I keep a roof over their heads? How are you supposed to navigate this without ending up homeless? I tried every avenue and was met again and again with dead ends. I saw no way through. If it were only myself, I could survive living out of my van; but not with them. How was it possible that they were opening up applications for a home to be built in the same town where my children have spent most of their lives and where they were already integrated into the school systems and special education programs? We again have hope for healing and a future. We have a home. None of this would be possible without the generous donations from Hancock Lumber and all of the sweat equity from everyone who volunteered to build our home. Thank you feels so inadequate to capture the magnitude of our gratitude, but it is all I have. So, Thank You. Everyone. Truly. I have no words.
