Thank you to our major building sponsor, Kennebunk Savings

Dear Friends,

You may have already heard the news that Habitat for Humanity York County closed on its own forever home in December 2023. I am very excited to share more with you about the purchase of 123 York Street in Kennebunk and how this permanent home will help us expand our affordable housing mission in York County.

While it had been a longer term, strategic goal to own our building, we did not have any plans to purchase a building in 2022. However, when we had the opportunity to own a space with frontage right on Route 1 which would also allow for increased retail floor, the board agreed it was a time to be bold. We’re thankful we were able to partner with Kennebunk Savings Bank for this purchase, who worked with us to create a financing plan that fit our needs. We’re also grateful for you—Habitat for Humanity York County was able to be bold in this moment thanks greatly to the continued support of our volunteers, donors, homeowners, and advocates.

This new building will help us grow our housing impact in York County. The increased sales floor, visibility on Route 1 and stabilized expenses will all contribute toward increased ReStore revenue to support the growth of our affordable homeownership and Aging in Place Programs. These programs are needed now more than ever, as home prices in York County remain historically high and inaccessible to so many.

The new facility will also allow us more administrative space for our offices—providing for more functional spaces for our committee meetings, meetings with prospective and current homeowners, and space to better engage administrative and program volunteers in our office.

We expect to transition into this new location for the beginning of April, and in the coming months we look forward to sharing updates, videos, and opportunities to get involved with you.  If you would like to contribute to this project, please follow the link below.

We look forward to sharing updates with you. In the meantime, please visit our ReStore at our current 4 Industrial Drive Location!
